OneStep

App function: 1) record user’s walking steps, time spent on walking, mileage walked and calorie burnt; 2) social networking feature which enables users to connect with family members and friends.

Challenge: the most challenge part of this project is building the persona. The persona section represents three potential user types: cynic, optimist and outlier. I needed to figure out what the three different kinds of users are like, their financial state, social status, age and even their attitude about life. It evolves a lot of knowledge about people.

Solution: research, research, research. I did a lot of research on the internet to see what other designers have done. How they defined their users.

In building the mood-board, I picked three colors as three design directions to go for building the app: green, purple and red. Green represents being in touch with nature while walking and hiking; purple represents the calmness the walking activity brings to our mental health; red represents energy through exercises. In this case, I picked purple as the theme for the app as the major functions of the app is to get light exercises that are good for our body and mind during leisure time while connecting with family and friends .

What I learned: Being a visual and interactive designer means you put yourself in your customers shoes. Knowing and understanding what they need and want. How you can provide a product for them that quickly and easily satisfies their needs.
